Sustainability

I have previously won a Green Goal Award for my green business practices and am committed to making my small business as sustainable as possible while maintaining affordability. It’s a fine line.

Sources

I try to source as many items from the UK or the EU as possible to reduce the carbon footprint of my products.

Paper Products

All paper and card used is from sustainable sources. Paper is from companies such as Navigator that are FSC members. Card is recycled from post-consumer waste in the EU. I also source the sticker paper from the UK or use sticker makers such as Zap Creatives, who follow sustainable practices.

Pins

Wooden and Acrylic pins are more sustainable and better for the environment than enamel pins. Wooden pins are made using wood from fast-growing trees and are made in the UK, reducing their carbon footprint. Acrylic pins are made in the UK using acrylic cut offs OR acrylic that has been recycled. More information can be found on the Zap Creative website.

Badges

While I do use plastic components in the badges, the bulk of my badges are made to order to reduce waste. I have some that I obviously make ahead of time to sell at markets and events, but orders are made to order. I use a machine and components sourced from a UK company called E-badges.

Packaging

There is no plastic packaging and the bags I use are paper or biodegradable cellophane.

Amazon KDP/Colouring Books

I am looking into alternatives to KDP but at least those books are also printed to order.

Generative AI

I do not use any generative AI in my work. All my drawings are my own work. Nor do I use AI to write my descriptions, listings or anything else. AI is terrible both for humanity and the planet. I use Procreate for drawing and a really old version of Photoshop. I have used Canva (for social media posts) in the past, before they became so dependent on AI.
